It’s no secret at Yale University that the president, Peter Salovey, plays bass in a bluegrass band. They don’t lecture much about music in the psych department, where Professor Salovey plies his trade, but the prez has given a relaxed interview here. Watch.

  • Professor says:

Well, how about Cornell University President David J. Skorton? He’s an ardent jazz musician who not only talks the talk but walks the walk!

Here he is in a guest appearance on jazz flute with Wynton Marsalis and the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra, who he invites regularly along with other jazz greats to perform at Cornell. OK, so maybe he’s not Hubert Laws, but as a respected academician he’s giving credibility and importance to the world of music.
