It’s Gil Bernal, famed for Duane Eddy’s Rebel Rouser and much else. He was 80.

The whole generation are on the way out. Earlier, we lost Frank Foster.

Here’s the LA Times obit for Bernal.

There’s a memorial service on August 28 at First United Methodist Church, 500 E. Colorado, Pasadena.

  • Mary Collins says:

Wherever Gil played, my late husband Dean Collins and I would go to hear him play. He was
the best on the Sax. A great performer and knew how to hold an audience. His music was the
kind that we were never tired of. So many of his and our friends are waiting for him in
heaven. My prayers are with his lovely wife and family at this very sad time.
